GorpA simple path to your first note.
1. Check recording
Open the recording setup screen. Allow microphone access and Screen & System Audio Recording in macOS. Run the eight-second audio check while speaking and playing audio from another app. Listen to both saved samples; a permission toggle alone cannot prove both tracks work.
2. Pick transcription
Choose Parakeet for an on-device model on Apple silicon, or Apple Speech as the built-in fallback. You can also install Ollama and a local audio-capable model, or enter your own OpenAI or Groq API key. Model quality varies by recording; check names, numbers, and decisions against the audio.
3. Pick note writing
Use Apple Intelligence where supported, a local Ollama model, a provider with your own API key, or an optional supported subscription CLI. You can keep rough notes during a call and decide when to generate the polished version.
4. Review and export
Edit the transcript and notes, play timed passages, attach meeting materials, and export Markdown or a portable Gorp bundle. Treat generated claims as unverified until you inspect their source audio.
Where your data goes
Gorp stores notes, audio, and attachments locally. Apple Speech and Parakeet process audio in the app. Ollama requests go to a service on your Mac. If you select OpenAI or Groq transcription, audio is sent directly to that provider. If you select an external writing provider, rough notes and transcript go directly to it; indexed attachment text is included only when you enable that setting. Gorp does not currently run a sync server.
Before recording, make sure participants know and follow the rules that apply to your meeting.
