The fastest way to identify a recording problem is Gorp’s built-in audio check. It tests saved microphone and computer-audio files separately.

Gorp is missing from Microphone settings

Open Gorp’s recording setup and choose the microphone access action. macOS lists an app in Microphone settings after it requests access. Return to Gorp, recheck, then run the eight-second test. If the app identity changed after installing a new build, quit and reopen the signed app before checking again.

Screen audio is enabled, but the check fails

A blue macOS permission switch alone does not confirm that Gorp received sound. Quit and reopen Gorp after changing Screen & System Audio Recording access. Play a short sound from another app while running Gorp’s audio check. Read the specific error and play the saved system sample. If no sound is present, confirm the other app is playing through this Mac’s output device and retry.

One track is quiet

Check the Mac’s input device and input level for your microphone. Play audio from another app for the system track. Gorp reports buffer counts and levels from the saved samples so you can tell whether permission, routing, or silence is the likely cause.

The transcript misses words

Replay the saved track first. If speech is missing from the recording, fix capture before changing models. If the audio is clear, compare Parakeet, Apple Speech, or your chosen local model on the same sample in Settings. Watch missed words as well as overall word error; overlapping speakers and names can be difficult. Keep the original audio so important facts can be checked.

Local AI is not ready

Parakeet needs a one-time model download. Ollama must be installed, running on this Mac, and have an audio-capable model downloaded before transcription. Apple Intelligence writing depends on supported macOS, hardware, region, and model availability. Gorp’s Settings page reports which step is missing.

Support contact

A direct support channel will be added for the public beta. Until then, the in-app audio check is the source of specific capture diagnostics. Meeting content and audio are not sent to Gorp automatically.
